4 steps to get started

The quickest path from signing up to logging your first real repair job in Workbench.

Workbench works out of the box, and most shops are up and running in about half an hour. These four steps cover everything from signing up to logging your first real job.

Step 1: Sign up and verify your email

Go to useworkbench.ca and click Try for free. Enter your name, email, and a password. You’ll get a confirmation email, click the link inside to verify the account.

No credit card required. You’re on the 30-day free trial from day one.

Step 2: Set up your shop profile

Once you’re in, head to Settings → Shop profile and fill in:

  • Shop name as customers know you (this shows on tickets and notifications)
  • Logo
  • Phone and address
  • Default notification language (English or French)

See Setting up your shop profile if you want a walkthrough of each field.

Step 3: Turn on customer notifications

In Settings → Notifications, enable SMS, email, or both. Workbench will send customers an automatic update when their job status changes, so you stop getting “is it ready yet?” calls.

Send yourself a test notification to confirm delivery before your first real job.

Step 4: Log your first job

From the dashboard, click New job. Enter the customer details, describe the piece, take an intake photo, and submit. Workbench creates a job number, sends the customer a confirmation, and prepares a ticket you can print.

See Logging your first job for the full walkthrough.

That’s it. You’re now tracking repairs with customer updates, photo documentation, and a searchable record of every job.
