SMS Notification Policy
Last updated: 2 May 2026
This page describes how SMS (text message) notifications work when a repair shop sends them through Workbench. If you’ve received a text from a shop using Workbench, this page is for you.
We’ve written it in plain English because we think you should actually understand what you’re getting and how to stop it if you want to.
About this program
Workbench is software used by independent repair shops across North America to manage the repairs they do for their customers. One of the things our software does is send SMS notifications to customers about the status of their repair. When you receive a message that says something like “Your job ticket has been updated to Ready for Pickup”, that message was sent through US on behalf of the shop you’re working with.
Each message identifies the repair shop that’s sending it. The message comes from a single phone number that we operate, but the content of the message is from your repair shop.
How you opted in
Your repair shop collected your phone number and your consent to receive SMS notifications when you brought your item in for repair, scheduled service, or otherwise interacted with them. They recorded that consent in our software before any messages were sent to you.
We do not send SMS notifications to anyone whose consent has not been recorded by their repair shop. If you don’t remember giving consent, or if you want to confirm what was recorded, please contact your repair shop directly. They maintain your customer record.
What you’ll receive
Only transactional messages about your repair. For example:
- Your repair status has changed (such as “diagnosed”, “in progress”, or “ready for pickup”)
- A follow-up about your job after you’ve picked it up
- Other messages directly related to the work the shop is doing for you
We do not send marketing messages, promotions, or unrelated content through this program. Every shop using Workbench has agreed to our Terms of Service, which prohibit using these notifications for marketing.
How often
Frequency varies based on your repair. Most customers receive between one and five messages per repair job.
Costs
We do not charge you for receiving messages. However, your mobile carrier may charge for incoming SMS depending on your plan. Standard message and data rates may apply.
How to stop messages
Reply STOP to any message and you’ll be opted out. You can also contact your repair shop directly and ask to be removed from notifications.
Once you opt out, you will not receive further notifications from Workbench, including from any other shop using our platform, unless you opt back in.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message, or email US at support@useworkbench.ca. For questions about your specific repair, please contact your repair shop directly.
How your data is handled
We treat your phone number and SMS opt-in status as personal information. We do not share mobile information (including phone numbers and SMS opt-in or consent data) with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share this information with our SMS delivery provider, Twilio, only for the purpose of delivering the messages you’ve consented to receive.
For full detail on how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.
Who operates this program
This SMS program is operated by IT’S US STUDIO, a Canadian company, on behalf of the repair shops across North America that use Workbench.
